Despite misconceptions, dementia is not part of the natural ageing process. The Dementia Services Development Centre has created an online resource providing an overview of dementia as part of its ‘Dementia Education for Family Carers and Volunteers’ project.

Included in the resource is information on the different types of dementia, how dementia affects the brain and how it can affect the individual. A similar resource is also available from Alzheimer Scotland.
