Plean developing as an OCN place of interest

At Plean Partners Network Martin and I were able to contribute to the discussion around how empowerment and involvement of Pleans residents and the challenges to this. How can a feeling of connectedness be created and raising the profile of dementia awareness amongst members of the community and professionals. We were able to use the work we have don’t in Plean so far to inform the discussion and contribute to the local action plan. We were able to include our knowledge of local assets such as William Simpson and how we might work differently to work towards community connectedness.

OCN Strand Leads

We had another really productive OCN strand leaders meeting where amongst many things we looked at refining communications systems, our ‘elevator pitch’ to describe what the project aims to do and its values.

Dementia Friendly Stirling

I was stand in chair for the Dementia Friendly Stirling meeting. We made great progress on the action plan and discussed ideas to form 4 work streams which align with strategic council aims and objectives. We talked about forming a knowledge hub and a cloud storage for strategic plans related to the work.

Environment Audits

Today we will be conducting our first audit as part of the environment strand. Involving 7 people living with dementia we have created an opportunity to audit Sainsbury’s in Raploch for dementia friendliness using the Place Standard Tool.
