Arts and inclusion

The main aim of the arts and inclusion strand is to develop the cultural elements that make up meaningful citizenship.  It is also to engage with people living with dementia in the community and care homes through artistic and cultural involvement and expression.

Artlink Central will lead the work using a range of tools and creative learning approaches to involve people living with dementia in the community and care homes.  Through development and testing of innovative ideas Artlink will create a system for care homes to audit how the residents are connected to their neighbourhood.

In collaboration with project partners we will investigate and develop new creative ideas and work which will support people living with dementia to be more culturally involved with their neighbourhood and citizenship. A cultural strategy could be written into this with particular attention to how we continue the work with less resources.

The Arts strand will develop working towards a ‘cultural offer’.  This includes emphasis on integrating people with dementia into existing cultural events and venues, and thinking about what that might involve; rather than setting up dementia-specific provision.
